Positioned either at the focus (phase center) of the reflector in axial feed configurations, or offset from the center in offset-feed or focal-plane designs, the feed plays a critical role in shaping the antenna’s radiation pattern, polarization, and overall signal performance.
In axial feed systems, the feed is typically a compact horn antenna that acts as the interface between the BUC (Block Up Converter) and/or the LNB (Low Noise Block Down Converter) and the reflector. The feed horn efficiently transmits or receives RF signals, converting them from alternating current to radio waves and vice versa. When used in transmission, the feed directs RF energy from the BUC to the parabolic reflector, which focuses the waves into a high-gain, narrow beam. When used for reception, it collects focused signals from the dish and delivers them to the LNB.
