Technical Specifications of the TCKu2W Ku-Band Frequency Transceiver

The TCKu2W is configured for full-duplex Ku-band operation with 10.95-11.70 GHz Rx and 13.75-14.50 GHz Tx frequency ranges. Its IF path operates across 950-1700 MHz, while the minimum specified P1dB output power is 2 W (33 dBm).

The RF performance includes 0-66 dB adjustable conversion gain, ≤3 dB noise figure, >60 dB image rejection, <-50 dBc spurious emissions, and <5 dB gain flatness over 250 MHz RTBW. The external reference frequency is 25 MHz, with specified stability of <0.5 ppm.

The transceiver operates from a 12 VDC supply, with maximum power consumption of 20 W, and is specified for an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +60 °C.

Key Features of the TCKu2W Frequency Transceiver 10.95-11.70 GHz Rx / 13.75-14.50 GHz Tx

  • Integrated full-duplex Tx and Rx operation.
The TCKu2W combines the Ku-band transmit and receive chains in a single compact RF unit and supports a full-duplex communication session.
  • Integrated upconverter, amplifier and low-noise downconverter.
Instead of using separate frequency-conversion units, the TCKu2W integrates the main Tx and Rx RF functions into one enclosure.
  • 2 W minimum P1dB output power.
The transmit path provides at least 2 W (33 dBm) output power at P1dB.
  • PLL-stabilized frequency conversion.
The unit uses PLL local oscillators at 12.8 GHz for Tx and 10.0 GHz for Rx, with specified low phase-noise characteristics.
  • Adjustable 0-66 dB conversion gain.
The wide adjustable gain range enables the RF level to be configured according to the requirements of the satellite communication chain.
  • 25 MHz external frequency reference.
The external reference operates at 25 MHz with specified stability better than 0.5 ppm.
  • Separate RF and IF interfaces.
The RF Tx OUT and Rx IN use SMA-type female 50 Ohm connectors, while the IF Tx IN and Rx OUT use U.FL-type female 50 Ohm connectors.
  • IP65 enclosure.
The housing is specified with IP65 protection, allowing the transceiver to be used in outdoor SATCOM installations.
  • Standby and communication operating modes.
Standby mode provides receive-only operation and has unlimited specified operating time. Full-duplex communication without additional radiator or air cooling is specified for 5 minutes; operation with additional cooling depends on the cooling level required to prevent overheating.

Compatibility of the TCKu2W Full-Duplex Frequency Transceiver

The TCKu2W is intended for satellite systems using 10.95-11.70 GHz Rx, 13.75-14.50 GHz Tx and 950-1700 MHz IF. Integration requires SMA female 50 Ohm RF interfaces, U.FL female 50 Ohm IF interfaces, a 25 MHz reference, and 12 VDC power. The product page also specifies compatibility with DVB-S/S2/S2X satellite communication systems.

How It Works ❓

  • Tx upconversion.
The transmit chain accepts an IF signal within 950-1700 MHz and converts it to the 13.75-14.50 GHz Ku-band transmit range using the 12.8 GHz Tx local oscillator.
  • RF amplification.
The converted Tx signal is amplified, with a minimum specified P1dB output power of 2 W (33 dBm).
  • Rx downconversion.
The receive chain accepts Ku-band signals within 10.95-11.70 GHz and converts them to the 950-1700 MHz IF range using the 10.0 GHz Rx local oscillator.
  • Simultaneous transmit and receive operation.
In the Communication session operating mode, the TCKu2W supports full-duplex Tx/Rx operation, while Standby mode provides receive-only operation.
  • Adjustable conversion gain.
The conversion gain can be adjusted from 0 to 66 dB, allowing the RF chain level to be configured for the connected satellite system.
