Product Description

The DRA-125WB is a high-precision dual-reflector Cassegrain receive/transmit antenna with a 1.25 m equivalent aperture and a 3.6-17.7 GHz operating range. Its optical geometry is optimized for high gain, while dual orthogonal linear polarizations are provided through two SMA female outputs, one for each polarization.

The antenna uses an all-weather feed with 50 Ohm input impedance, 10-12 dBi feed gain, 25° E- and H-plane -3 dB sectors, and up to 100 W input power. The reflector is installed on an azimuth/elevation positioner, and the metal parts are corrosion-protected for operation from -50 to +50 °C at 100% humidity in demanding climates.

Technical Specifications of the DRA-125WB Dual-Reflector Antenna

The DRA-125WB combines a 1.25 m equivalent aperture, 3.6-17.7 GHz broadband operation, and dual orthogonal linear polarization in a single receive/transmit Cassegrain antenna system.

Its broadband  feed provides 10-12 dBi intrinsic gain, 50 Ohm impedance, two independent SMA female polarization outputs, and up to 100 W input power. The complete antenna provides G/T of 24.27 dB/K at 20°, 38 K noise temperature at 10° elevation, and a -3 dB beamwidth of ≤1.43° at the center frequency.

Key Features of the Dual-Reflector Cassegrain Rx/Tx Antenna

  • Wide 3.6-17.7 GHz operating range.
The antenna system provides broadband receive/transmit operation across the specified 3.6 to 17.7 GHz range.
  • 1.25 m equivalent aperture.
The high-precision Cassegrain antenna uses a reflector system with an equivalent aperture of 1.25 m.
  • Dual orthogonal linear polarization.
Two orthogonal linear polarizations are supported, with an individual RF output for each polarization.
  • Two SMA female outputs.
The broadband feed provides two SMA female connectors, one for each polarization channel.
  • Broadband  feed.
The feed itself covers 3.6-17.7 GHz, provides 10-12 dBi gain, and has a 50 Ohm input impedance.
  • 100 W power capability.
The specified maximum feed input power and maximum total antenna input power are 100 W.
  • Defined narrow-beam performance.
The complete antenna has a specified -3 dB beamwidth of no more than 1.43° at the center frequency.
  • Cross-polarization performance.
The feed provides 25 dB cross-polarization suppression, while the complete antenna is specified with 30 dB cross-polarization isolation.
  • Azimuth and elevation positioning.
The reflector is mounted on a positioning device providing movement in both principal pointing planes.
  • Corrosion-resistant construction.
Metal antenna components are protected by hot-dip galvanizing, and the positioner is designed for demanding climatic conditions.
  • Wide temperature range.
The antenna system is specified for operation from -50 to +50 °C. The feed specification also states operation at 100% humidity within this temperature range.

Applications

The DRA-125WB broadband Cassegrain antenna is intended for receive/transmit systems requiring wide frequency coverage and precise directional operation.

  • Multi-band C/Ku/DBS systems.
The passport specifically identifies operation across the stated C, Ku and DBS frequency ranges and the possibility of combining different frequency bands in one antenna system.
  • Broadband receive/transmit RF systems.
Its 3.6-17.7 GHz operating range allows one reflector and feed system to cover a wide frequency interval.
  • Dual-polarization systems.
The antenna is suitable for equipment requiring two orthogonal linear polarization channels with independent SMA female interfaces.
  • High-precision directional systems.
The narrow specified beamwidth and azimuth/elevation positioning mechanism support applications requiring precise antenna pointing.

Compatibility of the Dual-Reflector Antenna 3.6-17.7 GHz, Dual Linear Polarization

The DRA-125WB is intended for systems operating within 3.6-17.7 GHz and requiring orthogonal linear polarization. The feed has a 50 Ohm impedance and two SMA female connectors, one for each polarization. Integration should also account for the antenna’s azimuth/elevation positioning requirements and 100 W maximum input power.

How It Works ❓

  • Broadband RF operation.
Feed operates across the 3.6-17.7 GHz frequency range and provides the RF interface for the dual-reflector antenna system.
  • Two independent polarization channels.
Two orthogonal linear polarizations are available, with a separate SMA female connector for each polarization.
  • Optimized reflector geometry.
The passport states that the antenna optical geometry is optimized for maximum gain.
  • Directional pointing.
The reflector is positioned in azimuth and elevation, allowing the antenna direction to be adjusted according to the required operating geometry.
  • Receive/transmit operation.
The DRA-125WB is specified as a receive/transmit antenna system, with total input power up to 100 W CW.

Wind Resistance and Positioning

The standard azimuth/elevation positioner is designed for reliable antenna operation at wind speeds up to 80 km/h. Under operating wind loads, the specified pointing hold accuracy is 50 arcseconds.

The standard positioner withstands gusts up to 120 km/h. Above this level, the reflector must be moved to the zenith position, where antenna survival is specified up to 150 km/h.

For regions with more severe wind conditions, the passport also describes a reinforced positioner capable of normal antenna operation up to 120 km/h and antenna survival in the zenith position at wind speeds up to 200 km/h.

Why Choose the Dual-Reflector Antenna 2x SMA Female, 100 W, DRA-125WB ❓

The DRA-125WB combines a 1.25 m high-precision Cassegrain reflector system, 3.6-17.7 GHz broadband coverage, dual orthogonal linear polarization, two SMA female outputs, 100 W CW power capability, 24.27 dB/K G/T, narrow directional performance, azimuth/elevation positioning, corrosion protection, and -50 to +50 °C operation. This makes it a practical solution where wide multi-band coverage, two independent polarization channels, precise pointing and robust outdoor construction are required in one antenna system.
